Points of Departure

Jack Kerr was not supposed to go missing. He was nineteen. Carefree. Far too young and loved to simply evaporate from the beaches of Thailand. When Jack disappears, everybody notices. When an apathetic police investigation produces nothing more than silence, his parents begin to grow desperate.

Hugh Fitzgerald is losing control. Broke. Alcoholic. Alone. That last five years have slipped between crisis and stagnation. With circumstances at home deteriorating with dizzying speed, he is willing to entertain any offer of employment abroad. Hugh is a last resort for Jack’s parents, and he knows what is expected of him.

It sounds like an easy job. Find a kid trapped in some easy tropical dream. Wake him up. But Jack’s warm trail leads somewhere unimaginable. As Hugh closes in, he is forced to resort to increasingly desperate measures. The illusion of control starts to slip through his fingers. As the body count begins to rise, he realises that finding Jack might be the only option left to him.
